What is a Favicon ?
Favicon is short for ‘favorites icon’. It is a tiny image(usually 16×16 pixels) associated with a website and is usually displayed alongside short-cuts, URL’s, on browser tabs and in browser bookmarks.

I never saw this coming but I think it is a excellent innovation given the increasing computing power of mobile phones. Some devices now rival and even surpass the most powerful computers of yesteryear. To combat impersonation twitter has begun verifying accounts of well known figures. A blue check mark logo with the words ‘Verified Account’ now appears on the top right corner of some of the most popular celebrity twitter accounts.
